Adding a New Category and Budget
To add a category or budget in Finanzy, follow these steps:
Open the Categories & Budgets Page
This will open the Categories & Budgets page, where previously created categories (if any) are listed. If no categories have been added yet, the page will appear empty.
Tap the Menu button to open the side menu.
From the menu, tap on the Categories & Budgets option at the top.
Add a New Category or Budget
This will open the Category & Budget Add screen.
To add a new category or budget, tap the + button located at the bottom-right corner of the page.
Fields on the Add Category & Budget Screen
1- Category Name
- Enter the name of the category.
2- Category Type
- Select the type of the category:
- Income: For tracking your earnings.
- Expense: For tracking your spending.
3- Select Parent Category (Premium Feature)
- If the new category is a subcategory of an existing category, you can select the Parent Category here.
- The dropdown will display previously created categories for selection.
- Important Note: This option is only available for Premium Users. If you are adding your first category, this field will not appear, as at least one category must exist to use this feature.
4- Category Color
- Personalize your category by selecting a color.
5- Category Icon
- Choose an icon to represent the category visually.
6- Enable Budget
- Use this toggle to enable or disable budget creation for this category.
- When enabled, additional fields will appear:
7- Year Selection
- Choose the year for which the budget will apply.
- Budgets can be created for different years, allowing flexibility in financial planning.
8- Month Selection
- Set budgets for all months within the selected year.
9- Add Category Button
- After filling in all the necessary fields, tap the Add Category button to save the category.
Additional Notes
- Category Type [2], Parent Category Selection [3], and Year Selection [7] are dropdown fields.
- If you wish to clear a selection in any of these fields, tap the [x] button next to the field to remove the current selection and make a new choice.
